Why I Stuck A Flare Up My Arse For England (Soho Playhouse) (2026)

A solo play tracing a football fan’s viral stunt and search for identity. The play follows Billy Kinley, an avid football supporter whose impulsive act during Euro 2020 sends him viral and alters the course of his life. What begins as a moment of spectacle unfolds into a personal account of loyalty, masculinity, and belonging, as Billy reflects on the culture that shaped him and the consequences of being suddenly seen. Structured as a solo performance, the work blends humor with candid self-examination, using the incident as a lens to explore identity and fandom. Why I Stuck a Flare Up My Arse for England has received multiple awards, including recognition at the Adelaide Fringe, and has toured internationally with a series of critically acclaimed runs.
