The Piano Lesson is a powerful family drama that explores the complex legacy of slavery and the struggle to reclaim one's history. Set in 1930s Pittsburgh, the play follows the story of the Charles family, who must confront the ghosts of their past as they grapple with the fate of a cherished family heirloom - an ornately carved piano that holds the key to their ancestral story. Tensions rise as the family is forced to choose between honoring their heritage or forging a new path forward.
