The Night of the Iguana (1988)
At a rundown Mexican coastal hotel in 1940, defrocked Episcopal minister T. Lawrence Shannon arrives as a tour guide leading a busload of disgruntled Baptist schoolteachers, on the verge of a nervous breakdown. The lusty widowed proprietor Maxine Faulk takes him in, as does Hannah Jelkes, a wandering New England spinster traveling with her elderly poet grandfather. Over one feverish night, the three confront despair, faith, and the search for human connection.
