Acclaimed Black writer Suzanne Alexander returns to Ohio State University to deliver a lecture on the violent imagery in her work. As she addresses the audience, she recounts her experiences as one of the few Black students on campus in the late 1940s and early 1950s, revealing a secret affair with a white English professor, the birth of twin daughters, and the racially charged tragedy that shaped her literary voice.
