How I Learned to Drive (2022)
Li'l Bit, a woman in her forties, looks back on her coming-of-age in 1960s and '70s rural Maryland, recounting the years-long, sexually abusive relationship with her Uncle Peck that began when he taught her to drive as a young girl. Through nonlinear vignettes framed as driving lessons, the play traces the complicated bond between predator and victim, exploring memory, complicity, family dysfunction, and how Li'l Bit reclaims agency over her own past.
