Hershey Felder: The Piano and Me (2026)
A pianist recounts his life and heritage through music and storytelling. In this solo play, Hershey Felder portrays himself alongside multiple figures from his past, tracing his upbringing in Montreal as the child of Polish and Hungarian immigrants. The narrative follows his early discovery of the piano and how music became a connection to his cultural roots while shaping his personal and professional path. As his story unfolds, key moments of opportunity, loss, and artistic development are explored through performance and reflection. The production incorporates live renditions of works by composers including Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, and Bartók, using these pieces to frame the experiences that informed Felder’s career and extensive performance history.
