A Day in the Death of Joe Egg (2003)

Bri and Sheila, a witty but exhausted English couple, struggle to cope with the daily care of their severely disabled ten-year-old daughter Josephine, whom they nickname "Joe Egg." Using dark humor, role-play, and bitter comic routines aimed directly at the audience, they confront the strain their daughter's condition places on their marriage. Over the course of one evening, joined by friends and Bri's interfering mother, the fragile jokes give way to a devastating reckoning with despair.
