Laurel Hell (2022)
Synth-pop and indie pop songs about exhaustion, obligation and the cost of performing for other people, built on bright keyboards and producer Patrick Hyland's spacious arrangements. American singer-songwriter Mitski named it after a folk term for getting trapped in the laurel thickets of the southern Appalachians. Released in 2022, it reached the top ten in the US and UK, her highest-charting record in both.
