Zombie (1976)
Horns, organ and long percussive grooves carry a blunt attack on the Nigerian military, whose soldiers are cast as mindless zombies following orders. Fela Kuti, the Nigerian musician who built Afrobeat out of funk, jazz and highlife, released it in Nigeria in 1976. The record is thought to have provoked the army raid on his commune and the killing of his mother, Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti.
