There's a Riot Goin' On (1971)

By Sly & the Family Stone

Murky, slowed down funk built on a drum machine, heavy overdubbing and a dense mix, trading the band's earlier optimism for apathy and disillusionment with fame and 1960s counterculture. The fifth album from the American funk and soul group topped the Billboard pop and soul album charts in 1971, and its single "Family Affair" hit number one.
