The Hissing of Summer Lawns (1975)

By Joni Mitchell

Jazz-inflected songs about women boxed in by suburban life, male dominance and the music business, backed by members of L.A. Express and The Crusaders. Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell (Court and Spark) added Moog and ARP synthesizers here for the first time. It reached number 4 in the US and later placed at 258 on Rolling Stone's 2020 greatest albums list.
