The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart (1960)

By Bob Newhart

Recorded live at a Houston nightclub in 1960, this stand-up set built around one-sided phone calls introduced Bob Newhart, a former accountant with a deadpan stammer, as a comedian. It spent 14 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard albums chart and won Album of the Year at the 1961 Grammys, the first comedy record to do so, while Newhart took Best New Artist.
