The Beatles (1968)
Thirty songs sprawl across folk, country rock, blues, ska, music hall, hard rock and the avant-garde, recorded in London through 1968 as arguments split the band apart. Nineteen were written on a meditation course in Rishikesh, India, where an acoustic guitar was the only Western instrument available. The double album topped the British and American charts with no single released.
