Star Time (1991)

By James Brown

Four discs trace James Brown's career from 1956's "Please, Please, Please" through gospel shouts and hard funk to "Unity," his 1984 collaboration with Afrika Bambaataa. The liner notes, partly written by Brown, won a 1991 Grammy for Best Album Notes, and Rolling Stone ranked the set number 54 on its 2020 list of the 500 greatest albums.
