Scheherazade (2011)
A four part orchestral suite that turns One Thousand and One Nights into sound, with a solo violin standing in for the storyteller Scheherazade spinning tales to stay alive. Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov wrote it in 1888, drawing on the bright, colorful orchestration and fascination with the East that run through his work. It remains one of his most popular pieces.
