Revolver (1966)
Pop songcraft pushed into studio experiment: tape loops and Indian drone on "Tomorrow Never Knows," a string octet behind the lonely "Eleanor Rigby," with lyrics turning to LSD, Eastern philosophy and death. The English rock band recorded it in 1966, their last project before quitting live performance. It topped the UK chart for seven weeks and the US Billboard Top LPs for six.
