Red Headed Stranger (1975)

By Willie Nelson

A concept album following a fugitive on the run after killing his wife and her lover, told in brief, poetic songs backed by little more than guitar, piano and drums. Willie Nelson cut it cheaply in Texas in 1975, and Columbia executives first mistook the tapes for a demo. Its cover of "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" became his first number one.
