Purple Rain (1984)

By Prince

Rock, R&B and synth pop collide across nine songs built from layered guitars, keyboards and drum machines, recorded with Prince's backing band the Revolution as the soundtrack to his 1984 film. It spent 24 straight weeks at number one on the Billboard 200, with "When Doves Cry" and "Let's Go Crazy" topping the Hot 100. For fans of big, psychedelic pop records.
