Paul's Boutique (1989)

By Beastie Boys

Dense layers of funk, soul, rock and jazz samples pile up under free associating rhymes. The New York hip-hop trio Beastie Boys (Licensed to Ill) recorded it with production duo the Dust Brothers over two years in Los Angeles, releasing it in 1989. It sold slowly at first, then landed on many lists of the greatest albums ever made.
