One in a Million (1996)

By Aaliyah

Skittering, bass-heavy R&B about commitment, abstinence and heartbreak, sung in a cool, restrained voice over production that pulls in trip hop, funk and jungle. Aaliyah, then a teenager two years past her debut Age Ain't Nothing but a Number, made it with the then-unknown Timbaland and Missy Elliott. It went double platinum in the US and spun off six singles, including "4 Page Letter".
