My December (2007)

By Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson turns heartbreak and label frustration into a darker rock-leaning pop record, written largely by Clarkson herself in a process she called "free therapy." She kept creative control despite reported clashes with Sony BMG head Clive Davis over making it more commercial. Released in 2007, it debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 and went platinum, led by the single "Never Again."
