Moondance (1970)

Warm, horn-lifted R&B and jazz-inflected folk from a songwriter who had just moved to upstate New York and assembled a new band there. Van Morrison, the Northern Irish singer who made the far stranger Astral Weeks in 1968, cut these songs in New York City in 1969 and released the album in January 1970. The title track became the song he plays most often live.
