Low (1977)

By David Bowie

Splits in two: a first half of short, jittery art pop fragments with downbeat lyrics, a second half of long instrumentals sketching Berlin. Bowie made it in France and West Berlin with producer Tony Visconti and Brian Eno while getting off drugs, drawing on German bands like Kraftwerk and Neu!. It reached number 2 in the UK.
