Jolene (1974)

By Dolly Parton

Country songs about jealousy, heartbreak and leaving, led by a title track sung in the voice of a woman begging a beautiful rival not to take her husband. Parton made it in 1974 as she stepped out from seven years on Porter Wagoner's TV and road show, a split that reportedly inspired "I Will Always Love You." Both songs became number-one country singles.
