I'm Your Baby Tonight (1990)

By Whitney Houston

Pivots from polished pop balladry into new jack swing, with R&B grooves and lyrics about desire. It was American singer Whitney Houston's third album, made after critics called her previous record formulaic and audiences questioned her sound, so she hired L.A. Reid and Babyface (producers of Bobby Brown's Don't Be Cruel). The title track became her eighth US number one and earned a Grammy nomination.
