Hunky Dory (1971)

Warm, melodic piano pop that trades hard rock for art pop, taking in artistic reinvention on "Changes" and tributes to Andy Warhol, Bob Dylan and Lou Reed. English singer David Bowie wrote it at the piano after a break from touring, with guitarist Mick Ronson. It sold poorly in 1971, then reached number three in the UK after Ziggy Stardust.
