Don Juan's Reckless Daughter (1977)
A sprawling double album that pushes folk songwriting into loose, jazz-leaning experiments, including long percussion pieces and shifting spoken passages. Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell made it as her Asylum contract wound down, and said she let it run looser than anything before it. Released in December 1977, it reached No. 25 on the Billboard chart and went gold within three months.
