Disintegration (1989)

By The Cure

Slow, heavy gothic rock built from layered guitars and synthesizers, turning inward on dread, love and aging as singer Robert Smith approached 30. The English band's eighth album reached number three in the UK and produced "Lovesong," which hit number two on the Billboard Hot 100. Rolling Stone placed it at 116 on its 500 Greatest Albums list in 2020.
