Darkness on the Edge of Town (1978)

By Bruce Springsteen

Raw, guitar-driven hard rock about older, worn down characters fighting back against long odds, drawn from Steinbeck novels, John Ford films, punk and country. Bruce Springsteen recorded it with the E Street Band after a legal fight with his former manager, stripping away the dense production of Born to Run. It reached number five in the US in 1978.
