Blue (1971)

By Joni Mitchell

Ten songs about the wreckage and thrill of love, sung over sparse acoustic guitar, piano and Appalachian dulcimer. Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell wrote and produced the whole record in 1971, after a breakup with Graham Nash and during a relationship with James Taylor. Rolling Stone placed it third on its 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list. For fans of quiet, plainspoken writing about relationships.
