Are You Experienced (1967)

By Jimi Hendrix

Distorted, feedback-heavy guitar drives a 1967 debut that pushed rock toward psychedelia. Jimi Hendrix worked the R&B circuit as a backing guitarist until manager Chas Chandler brought him to London and built a trio around him. The album hit number two in the UK and number five on the Billboard Top LPs chart, and the US version collected "Purple Haze" and "Hey Joe."
