American IV: The Man Comes Around (2002)

By Johnny Cash

Late-life country and folk recordings built around a worn voice, spare guitar and piano, taking up mortality, faith and regret. Country singer Johnny Cash made it as the fourth entry in his American series, and it was the last album released in his lifetime, arriving in November 2002. It appears in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.
