A Love Supreme (1965)

By John Coltrane

A four part suite of spiritual jazz recorded in a single session in December 1964, moving from chanted devotion to searching saxophone solos. Coltrane plays with his quartet: pianist McCoy Tyner, bassist Jimmy Garrison and drummer Elvin Jones. Released by Impulse! Records in January 1965, it was nominated for the 1966 Grammy for Best Jazz Instrumental Album.
