808s & Heartbreak (2008)

By Kanye West

Sung almost entirely through Auto-Tune over Roland TR-808 drums and cold, minor key synths, this 2008 record turns loss, heartache and the strain of fame into stark electronic pop. Kanye West, the rapper behind Graduation, made it after his mother's death and the end of his engagement. It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and produced "Love Lockdown" and "Heartless."
