1999 (1982)

By Prince

Synths and drum machines drive this double album of funk, pop and R&B, from the apocalyptic party of the title track (a protest against nuclear proliferation) to the sleek come-ons of "Little Red Corvette." Prince recorded it with his band the Revolution, and it became his first top ten album on the Billboard 200. It appears on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
